
While she didn't go home in the form of an "American Idol" award, Kellie Pickler was one among the show's most successful alumni. She was born Kellie Dawn Pickler June 28, 1986 in Stanly Memorial Hospital in Albemarle to Cynthia Morton and Clyde Raymond Pickler. She was born to the mother of 16 years. This was an extremely difficult time for Pickler as her father battled with addiction to drinking and drug addiction as her mother divorced her at the age of two. Morton came back to take charge for a few years, however Pickler confessed that she was not as smooth. "I remember my mother and I at the kitchen table and I said to her, 'I'd like God took me off as I'd prefer to not be alive with you.' The woman pulled out a knife set it down on the counter, then said to me, "Here, you do it." In fourth grade. I was in fourth grade "Of obviously, I could not ever have taken action about the incident. But it has left me with a lot emotional marks." Pickler was later given to her grandparents after she reached 12 years old. Morton failed to appear at the hearing. Pickler was brought up by her grandparent's all through her entire life. She cites them as being the most influential individuals throughout her life. On January 1, 2002, her maternal grandmother Faye Pickler passed away from lung cancer. Pickler was raised by her grandfather. Pickler was a graduate of North Stanly High School, located in New London (North Carolina).
